Gloria Shields, 69, of Pleasant Plains, formerly of Des Moines, IA died Monday October 3, 2011, in a local hospital. She was born May 19, 1942, in Pittsburg, PA, to George Evanson and Dorcus Flickinger. She was of the Lutheran faith.
Gloria was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Debbie Shields and Cheryl Lynn Shields; one son, John Shields; and one brother, Richard Evanson.
Survivors include one daughter, Bonnie Shields of Des Moines, IA; one brother, George (Butch) Evanson of GA; and four grandchildren, Felicia, Ian, Chelsea, and Heather.

Bonnie, After meeting with you last night i just had to let you know that i was very impressed by your strength. you have become a women of many strengths; i remember you as a little girl you were then and are now a force to be reccond with. I'm sorry you didn't get the chance to have your mom come be here with you, but there is reasons for that. we may never know why? Everything happens for a reason. i'm just sorry it had to be the passing of your mother for our paths to cross again.Lets promise to keep in touch after all this, God Bless You;

Bonnie & Family:
We were so shocked to hear of Gloria's passing. Being her only living brother I am moved deeply. I know that you too feel the great loss of a loved one such as Gloria. I have heart moving memories of us growing up and as adults. Sherry and I grieve with you and for you as we both go through this time of loss. But remember, tears shed in grief for another are like diamonds showered upon the memory of the one we loved. May the good times with her be the strength that carries us through.
