Laura Lathrop, 94, passed away September 25, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center.
Laura was born September 18, 1917, in Eddyville, Iowa, to Carrie “David” and Minnie Shilling. She was united in marriage to Eddie Lathrop on January 14, 1936, in Des Moines, Iowa. Laura enjoyed fishing, gardening, going to casinos, spending time with her family and being a housewife.
Laura is survived by her children, Norma Wright, Harold Lathrop, Eddie (Tammy) Lathrop, Dale (Verna) Lathrop, Deb (Kenny) Myers, Cheryl Lathrop, and Kathy (Jacob) Southward; 30 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; and her sister, Lucille Maxwell. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie in 1997; son, Donald Lathrop; her parents; son-in-law, Harold Wright; grandsons, Todd Lathrop, Harold Lathrop, Jr.., and Donald Wright; great-great-grandson, Devin Southward; four brothers; and six sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, September 30, 2011, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, followed by burial at Rising Sun Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.

To the family of our aunt Laura Lathrop: Our condolences and sympathy on the loss of aunt Laura. Am so sorry to hear the news. Time and miles seperated us all ofthese years, but I (Norm) have never forgotten what auntLaura and Uncle Eddie meant to me. I know that you had aunt Laura for many years, and were blessed by her life. To all her family we send this message of sorrow, and pray that you will take comfort in the fact that she had a happy long life.
