Esther M. Atkinson

Esther M. Atkinson, 91, passed away Saturday, September 24, 2011, at Kavanagh House on 56th.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, September 28, 2011, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home.

Born December 8, 1919, in rural Audubon County, Iowa, Esther Marjorie Hansen was the daughter of Danish immigrants Nels and Martina Hansen. On June 21, 1942, she was united in marriage to Darwin Wayne Atkinson. Esther’s favorite times were when she was able to be with her family.

Survivors include her daughter, Judy Walsh; granddaughter, Patty Walsh (Bill VanHorn); great-grandson, Nick VanHorn; and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne; parents; granddaughter, Jeannie Walsh; son in law, Steve Walsh; and siblings, Myrtle, Orville, Einer, and Virgil.
