H. Darlene Jacobe

H. Darlene Jacobe, 81, of Des Moines died on Monday, April 23, 2007 at the Westview Care Center in Indianola. Funeral services will be at 10AM Friday at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home with burial following at the Union Cemetery in Murray, Iowa. The family will greet friends from 5-8 PM Thursday evening at the funeral home.
Darlene retired from Des Moines School food service after over 30 years. She was a member of the Rebekahs, the Dudes and Dames Square Dancing Club and the Forresters camping club. She enjoyed square dancing, butterflies and puppies, was an avid camper and more than anything enjoyed being with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter Suzette (Dwayne) Smedes of Des Moines; her sons Asa (Linda) Jacobe of Elkhart and Dennis (Janet) Jacobe of New Virginia; her brothers Bob Moore of Pueblo, Colorado and Frank Kirk of New Virginia, her sister-in-law Carolyn Kirk of Rio, Illinois as well as 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lewis “Jake” Jacobe and her son Clayton Edward. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
