Oliver Lowe, Jr.

Oliver “Bill” Lowe, Jr., 79, passed away September 8, 2011, at the VA Hospital in Des Moines. He was born September 16, 1931, in Sedan, Kansas, to Oliver and Edith Lowe. Bill served in the U.S. Navy for 22 years. He worked in maintenance at the Des Moines Civic Center. He enjoyed football, wrestling, listening to country music, challenging himself to crossword puzzles, and gardening.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children, William Ray Lowe, Vickie Lee Lawton, and Debra Ann Flowers; one grandchild; three great-grandchildren; stepson, Joe (Ruth) Stec; stepdaughter, Laura Stec; six grandchildren; three brothers; and four sisters. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 29 years, Kathleen A. Lowe; and grandsons, Raymond A. Saturno and Sean M. Davis.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, September 13, 2011, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street in Des Moines, followed by burial at Chapel Hill Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home.
