Jeanne Wilson, 86, passed away Tuesday September 6, 2011 at Polk City Nursing and Rehabilitation.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, September 10, 2011 at Central Bible Church 2430 Guthrie Ave. with burial to follow in Sunset Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 - 8 p.m. on Friday at Hamilton’s Funeral Home 605 Lyon Street.

Born May 20, 1925, Jeanne Jeannette Wilson was the daughter of Frank and Myrtha (Copenhaver) Wilson. She grew up in rural Independence, Iowa in a family of six children. In 1946, she attended Northwestern Bible School in Minneapolis, MN, graduating in 1950. After graduation Jeanne left for Africa to serve as a missionary to teach the people about Jesus Christ. When returning four years later, she returned to complete more bible study at Prairie Bible Institute in Three Hills, Alberta, Canada before once again returning to Africa. In 1962 Jeanne graduated from Broadlawns School of Nursing, and continued to teach future students for one year. Later she earned her Bachelors in Nursing from Marycrest College in Davenport, Iowa, and Master’s Degree in guidance and counseling from Drake University. In 1971 Jeanne and Elsie Hosier served as co-pastors at Central Bible Church, and also working for the Iowa Board of Nursing until her retirement in 1987. Jeanne continued to pastor at the church until 1997

Survivors include her sister, Virginia Ann Kuper; long time friend, Rev. Elsie Hosier; and many nieces, nephews, and family at Central Bible Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Laura Kalbfliesch; and brothers, James, Lyle, and Richard.
