Service Details

Wilma Saylor, 86, died on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at Iowa Methodist Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 3, 2011, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, with burial following at Union Cemetery in Newton, Iowa. There will be a visitation Friday from 6 to 8 p.m.

Wilma was born May 15, 1925 in Newton to Myrtle and Grover Fleming. She graduated from Newton High School in 1943. Wilma married Harold Saylor on March 5, 1944. She worked as the office manager for Paine Webber and together she and Harold raised one daughter, Diane. Wilma was a very active member of Easton Place United Methodist Church. She enjoyed bowling, politics, traveling, Daniel O’Donnell, music and singing.

Wilma is survived by her daughter, Diane (Franklin) Mohler; grandchildren, Rebecca (Shawn) Walston and Jeffrey (Anissa) Mohler; great-granddaughter, Katherine Mohler; nephews, Larry (Mary Ellen) Streyffeler, Jerry (Nonie) Saylor, and Rodney (Charlotte) Saylor. She is also survived by a brother-in-law, Samuel Streyffeler; sister-in-law, Lorna (Ken) Baxley; grandnephew, Mike Saylor and his daughters, Courtney and Alyssa; grandnieces, Tina (Brent) Scott and her sons, Liam and Brady, and Lisa Streyffeler and her son, Lucas Kevin. She is preceded in death by her husband, Harold in 1991; parents; sister, Luella Streyffeler; and many, many dear friends.
