Andy E. McComb, 76, died Sunday, August 28, 2011. He was born December 20, 1934, in Grand Junction, Iowa, to Andy and Mae McComb. Andy’s professional career as a federal grain inspector spanned nearly 50 years, including owning Central Iowa Grain Inspection Service.
Andy is survived by his wife, Sherryl; children Doug McComb, Angie (John) Cushing and Daryn (Carla) McComb; five grandchildren, Cassie McComb, Wesley McComb, Mackenzie Stevens, Linley McComb and Cameron Stevens; Sherryl’s children, Pam (Tom) Goodman, Briane Colwill, Scott (Julie) Allen, Traci (Jeff) Wagner, and Mindy (Denny) Fish; Sherryl’s eleven grandchildren; two sisters; and three brothers. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Friday, September 2, 2011, at Capitol City Baptist Church, 5990 NE 14th Street, Des Moines. The family will greet friends from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, September 1, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, Des Moines.

Angie, I want you to know how sorry I am to hear about the loss of your father. Your dad was a kind, loving, and compassionate man. I loved your dad and so did our church family. He was a beautiful example of a follower of Jesus and I am proud to have been able to say he was my friend. Peace to you and I know your father has found Peace in God's arms. I was so sorry to here about Andy's passing. I worked with Andy in the past during his grain inspection years. I hadn't talked to Andy in the past years but he was a good friend. My heartfelt condolences to his family.

Please accept my sincere heartfelt condolences over the loss of a very good man, Andy. He was such a kind, loving, patient, and trustworthy fellow. I will miss him and his warm smile. Andy was real a blessing to our family; I know my father valued their friendship beyond measure as he was a friend a friend would love to have. Please find comfort in knowing that he is at rest in the arms of our loving savior.
