Richard G. "Jitterbug" Davis

Richard “Jitterbug” Davis, 71, was peacefully called to the Lord with his family by his side, Thursday, August 25, 2011, due to complications of surgery. A memorial service will be held 4 p.m. Sunday, August 28, 2011, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, with visitation two hours prior to the service.

Jitterbug was born January 3, 1940, to James and Mary Lou Davis in Des Moines. He loved talking and flirting and never met an ugly woman. Jitterbug enjoyed fishing, spending time with his family, and was the primary caregiver of his mother. He worked as a chef for many years.

He is survived by his children, Lisa Davis, Little Richard (Denise Moore) Davis and Sara Bishop; grandchildren, Tessa (David Razo) Davis and her children, Cisco, Allie and Maddie, Nicole (Doug) Foust, Natasha (Mitch Fatino) Davis, Whitney Davis, Dalton Davis, Jonathan Reveles, Mia Reveles and Dominic Reveles; brother, John (Tina) Davis; sisters, Mary Lou Swale and Ruby (Bill) Elings; best friends, Luke and Shonna Partlow; many nieces and nephews; and many, many beloved friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Bernice; granddaughter, Carrie Lynn Davis; brothers, James, William, Ronnie and Tommy Davis; and his sister Nancy Ballard.
