Franklin Benson

Franklin Dean Benson, 76, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family Thursday, August 25, 2011 at Mercy Hospice Johnston.

Frank was born June 1, 1935, in Ellsworth, Iowa, the son of John and Blanche (Larson) Benson. He proudly served in the United States Army and was a member of the UAW Local 450. Frank also was a Past Master of Daylight Masonic Lodge. He retired from John Deere after 35 years of faithful service.

Frank is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Donna; sons, Benjamin (Nancy) Benson and Thomas (Delicia) Benson; granddaughter, Elena Frances Benson; one sister; niece, Pat Davidson; nephew, Rick Hornberg as well as many other nieces, nephews, loving relati2ves and many special friends. He was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters, including his twin sister who died in infancy, Frances, and his parents.

The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, August 28, 2011, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, August 29, 2011, at Oralabor Cemetery in Ankeny, Iowa. Memorial contributions may be directed to Mercy Hospice Johnston in loving memory of Frank.
