Service Details
Richard W. Swisher, 75, went peacefully to the Lord at his home on August 31, 2011, following a longtime battle with cancer. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, September 3, at Glendale Cemetery. A visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home.
Richard was born May 12, 1936 in Merrill, Iowa to George and Evelyn (Hansen) Swisher. He graduated from Cherokee High School. Richard was a Veteran of the United States Air Force.
Richard is survived by his wife, Dixie (Wingert) Swisher; son, Garth Swisher; daughter, Jody Mang; grandchildren, Caleb, Benjamin, Stephen, Madison, Cody, Shelby and Abby; two great grandchildren, Brendan and Riley and brother, Laverne Swisher. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Judy.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Sovereign Grace Church.

Greetings in our sovereign Lord,
We have had the blessing of uniting with you to pray for his condition.
What a blessing to read that he saw it as a "win win situation!"
May the Lord comfort you all and receive praise, for His work of grace in Dick's life and death.
We will certainly pray for Dixie to know that comfort.

Though I will not be able to attend the services, know that I am present in spirit. I carry many fond memories of "Uncle Dick" and I am happy that he is in peace. I always loved it when he called me, "sugar" he made me feel so special.
I wish to convey my deepest sympathies to all the family.
My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
