Robert “Bob” Wilson, 68, passed away peacefully Monday, August 22, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. He was born October 14, 1942, in Buckeye, Iowa, the son of Garold and Lola (Vierkandt) Wilson. Bob proudly served his country for three years in the United States Navy. He was a service technician in the heating and cooling business for many years, and retired from the Baker Group. Above all else, he cherished the time he spent with his grandsons.
Robert is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Barb; sons, Mike Wilson of Texas, and Rod (Dana) Wilson of Altoona; grandsons, Evan and Alex Wilson of Altoona; siblings, Betty (Gene) Kuhlmann, Pat (Dick) Olinger and Dennis (Judy) Wilson; numerous nieces and nephews; mother-in-law, Ella Faye Barnhart; other loving relatives and many special friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, August 26, 2011, at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th Street SW, with burial to follow at Altoona Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, August 25, 2011, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the John Stoddard Cancer Center in loving memory of Robert.

I would like to extend my sympathy at the death of Bob. I grew up in Buckeye not far from him. We went to the she church and to grade school together. I was in Dennis's class. Our folks worked to together in some harvest work. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this time. May God bless and keep you.

Barb, I'm so very sorry to hear about Bob. Robin called me only today which was too late for me to make the visitation or the funeral. We don't take the paper. I would have been there otherwise as you must know. You have Jacque's and my deepest sympathy in your loss. Even when we know these things can happen, it does not make it any easier to bear when the time comes. Please know I am thinking of you.
