Lucy Anne (Pat) Pryor Mounsdon Clark was born December 19, 1923, to Hugh Clark and Elizabeth Durrin Pryor in Aberdeen, South Dakota. She died August 21, 2011, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa at the age of 87. Anyone who knew our mother knows that she lived a full life and did things her way for much of it. She spent most of her adult life working for Selective Service in various capacities and locations.

Anne graduated from Toledo High School in 1940, and married James Albert Mounsdon in 1947. They had 2 children, Elizabeth Lee and Thomas Albert. In 1971 she married Earl Dean (Pat) Clark and lived in Ness City, Kansas, until Pat's death in 1989. Shortly after this she began wintering in Leesburg, Florida, and in 1992 relocated there. In 2006, she entered into a loving relationship with Al Beck, her high school sweetheart. They were together until Al’s death in 2007, after which she relocated back to Florida. In 2010 she moved to Des Moines, Iowa, to live with daughter, Elizabeth, and her husband Eldon (Bud) Audas.

Anne was active in her church wherever she resided. She supported numerous organizations throughout her life including Camp Fire Girls, Boy Scouts of America, American Legion Auxiliary, the Indian Hill Saddle Club, Ness County historical Society, the Kansas and National Councils of Silver Haired Legislators and PEO.

Her older brother, Hugh Clark Pryor, Jr., and younger brother, Albert Pryor, preceded her in death. She is survived by daughter, Elizabeth (Bud) Audas; son, Thomas (Jo) Mounsdon; grandchildren, Abbie (Dan) Shipton, Sarah (Will) Hoban and James Albert Mounsdon; and great-grandchildren Charlie Shipton, Eleanora Hoban and Genevieve Hoban.

A memorial fund has been established in Anne Clark's name at Valley Hope in Norton, KS, where she and Pat Clark were once patients. Contributions in her name should be mailed to Valley Hope Foundation, PO Box 59, Norton, KS 67654, for those who wish to remember Anne in this way.

A memorial reception celebrating Anne's life will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2011, from 1 - 4 pm at the Polk County Southside Senior Center, 100 Payton Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa 50315. If you are able to attend, you are invited to bring your stories, photos, and other remembrances that you would like to share with those in attendance.
