Margaret Ruth Pardekooper

Margaret Ruth Pardekooper, 86, passed away August 19, 2011 at Taylor House Hospice. She was born May 26, 1925 in Des Moines to Floyd and Ethel Esty. She lived on the east side of Des Moines for most of her life and attended East High. Margaret Ruth married Charles J. Pardekooper in 1942 and traveled around with him while he served in the U.S. Navy. She also was a member of the Eastern Star since the late 1950s. She worked as a switchboard operator, enjoyed old country western music, and played the organ and guitar. She particularly loved spending time with her grandchildren, as they would go to garage sales and go out to eat together.

Margaret Ruth is survived by her loving husband, Charles J.; children, James (Pat) Pardekooper and Judith (Ron) Sanders; grandchildren, Roxanne, Pamela, Aaron, and Ronnell; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Sean, Ian, Laura, Cory, and Lucas. She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Dorothy, Virginia, and Dale; and grandson, Dennis.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, August 25, 2011 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street in Des Moines with burial at Iowa Veterans Cemetery. Family will greet friends two hours prior to the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Rescue League in loving memory of Margaret Ruth.
