Service Details

Douglas Eugene Reser, 55, of Des Moines died at his home from heart failure. He has been cremated and a memorial service will be held at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home on Monday, April 23, 2007 at 3 P.M. The family will greet friends from 1 P.M. until service time on Monday.
Doug was born on February 27, 1952 in Ft. Dodge, Iowa and moved to Des Moines with his family in 1966. He was a 1970 graduate of Dowling High School where he was a two time letter winner on their undefeated football teams. He was very close to his family and enjoyed sports, coaching, cards and pranks. He worked for the Chicago&Northwestern and then the Union Pacific Railroad for 33 years where he was a section foreman and machine operator. He was also the secretary and treasurer of the BMWED for over 20 years.
He was preceded in death by his brother Larry and survived by his parents C. Dale and Ruth Reser of Grimes; his daughter Sara Reser (Jim Tasler) of Des Moines; his son Brian (Andrea) Reser and Doug’s grandson Mason of Des Moines; his siblings Roberta (Lowell) Shuey of Grimes, Ed Reser of Hixson, Tennessee, Phil (Esther) Reser of West Des Moines, Mary Kay Reser (Brian Browning) of Des Moines, Joe (Ellie) Reser of Des Moines, John (Dawn) Reser of West Des Moines, and Patti Reser (Greg Joura) of Van Meter. Memorial contributions may be made to Dowling High School or the Alzheimer’s Association.
