John Russo, 80, of Des Moines passed away August 19, 2011 at Taylor House. He was born on September 4, 1930 to John and Angeline Russo.
Services will be held Monday, August 22 at 2 p.m. with visitation from 12 p.m. to 2 pm. At Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Glendale Cemetery.
John is survived by his son, Jeff; daughter, Mary (Dave) Duggan; sister, Mary (Dante) Fresco; grandchildren, Christopher and Carrie Laidlaw; great-grandchildren Nolan Morrison and Krissa Laidlaw; and nieces, Susan Paterson and Debbie Leech.
He was a basketball coach for several years at the South Suburban YMCA and an avid New York Yankees fan. John will be missed for his great sense of humor and the love that he gave his family.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I recently took care of your dad a few weekends, in hes short stay at Rehabilitation Center of Des Moines. I could always get him to smile, or make him laugh. He will be missed.
