Joseph Alessio

Joseph J. Alessio, 95, died peacefully April 18, 2007, at Kavanagh on Grand Ave. He was born June 24, 1911, to James and Elizabeth Alessio in Des Moines.
A Mass of Celebration will be held Saturday April 21, 2007 at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. A Vigil service will be 6:30 p.m. Friday at Hamilton's Southtown Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 2 to 7 p.m.
Joe retired from the city of Des Moines Public Works Department after 30 years of service.
Joe is survived by his loving wife, Katie after 71 years of marriage. He leaves his children; James (Shirley), Tom (Janet), Emma (Anthony) Madonia, Diane (Norman) Dobson and Helen Alessio. He also leaves twelve grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Carrie Sergio, Gladys Ford, Mary Oliver, Virginia Leo, Rose Alessio and a brother Anthony Alessio.
