Ralph L. Murray, 61, was born January 5th, 1950 to the union of Ralph L. Murray, Sr. and Betty L. Murray. Butch went to be with the Lord on August 16, 2011.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Brenda; seven children, Ralph III, Casandra, Ryan, Jason, Jimmy and Josh; seven grandchildren; his mother, Betty Murray; and six siblings; Sandra Curtis of Atlanta, GA, Marsha (William) Franklin of Denver, CO, Linda (Richard) Johnson, Raymond Murray, Bruce Murray and Marvin (Donna) Wesley; and a host of other loving family members.
Butch was a meat cutter and welder by trade and loved to tinker with cars; he was a gifted self taught artist and loved to whittle walking canes. He also was a basketball, baseball and football coach for the youth at the Salvation Army.
Butch loved his children, grandchildren and family. He had a heart of gold.
Butch accepted Christ into his life at a very early age and he loved to sing gospel songs.
Preceding him in death is his father, Ralph Sr. and daughter, Brittany Lynn.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 20, 2011 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. with visitation from 12 – 1 prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Hospice of Central Iowa, 3000 Easton Blvd, Des Moines, Iowa 50317-3124.

My heart goes out to Butch's family at their time of sorrow. It is very difficult to let a love one go and I understand that oh so well. Now Butch is a peace.

Family we are very blessed to have known and loved Butch. We will miss him very much. He was a fine upstanding husband and a strong loving father to his children. Just know that God is a very purpose driven God. It was through Butch's illness that God knitted our family back together in love. Although this is a painful period we know that Butch has been greeted with the words we all long to hear someday "Well done my good and faithful servant." Let his passing be a reminder to us all that tomorrow is not promised to any of us so let us love each other everyday like there is no tomorrow.
To Brenda and the boys we are just a phone call away, call us if you need anything and I pray that the Joy of the Lord is your strength.

Butch you are truly going to be missed by all, you fought through this as long as you could. Your are one of Gods angels up in heaven with your daughter Brittany. My prayer will be with Brenda and the young Men you have raised.

This was a very good person, he loved his family. I will miss him very much
But I know that he has gone to a better place and will be watching over all of us always.
