Thomas Arthur, 92, died August 15, 2011.
Tom was born in Des Moines to May and Eugene Arthur. He graduated from East High. He married Wilma Mott in 1939, and they celebrated their 72nd anniversary August 9, 2011. Tom was employed by Firestone Tire and Rubber for 30 years. He was a gifted and happy man who was loved by his family and friends.
Tom is survived by his wife, Wilma; sons and daughters, Susan (Bruce), Stephen (Joann), Michael (Pamela) and Kimberly (Richard). He enjoyed nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was a member of Capitol Hill Christian Church, 3322 East 25th Street, where a celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 27, 2011. The family requests no flowers. Memorial contributions may be given to Capitol Hill Christian Church in his name.

To all of the family, I would like to express our sincere condolences to the Authur Family. We all have such fine memories of him and the "Home Builders" class. He was such a good friend to our family and we will retain many fond rememberances. We are sorry for your loss, but know in our hearts that he lead such an active christian life.

Tom Arthur was one of a kind and one of our favorite people. Always a smile on his face and a very warm hello. We were fortunate to claim Aug 9th as a shared anniversary. How fortunate to be blessed with 72 years! There is a chair in our bedroom handmade by Tom. We will always treasure it and Tom and Wilma's friendship.

So sorry to hear of your loss. Tom will be greatly missed by all. What a wonderful person and someone who contributed so much to life! I have missed Tom (and Wilma) at church. I'm sorry that I will miss the celebration of his life as I'm out of town that day. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
