Pauline Heck

Pauline Helen Heck, 85, of Carlisle passed away Wednesday, April 18, 2007 at Trinity Center at Luther Park. Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 23, 2007 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. in Des Moines.
Pauline was born November 16, 1921 in Des Moines to Guy and Ruth (Sumpter) Garrett. She attended East High School and was an avid reader. She donated over 500 books to veterans in hospitals in Des Moines and was presented with a citation which read “Veterans of Foreign Wars Honor Degree”. She was married to Robert Kenneth Heck on February 2, 1941 in Des Moines, they were married 53 years. They raised their children on the south side of Des Moines and then moved to Carlisle in 1968 where they spent their retirement years. She worked at Tones Brothers Spices for 26 years before her retirement in 1987.
Pauline is survived by her three children, Kenneth Heck, Karen (Ray) Gillaspy and Sandi Christopherson; two sisters, Dorothy Johnson of Seattle, Washington and Mary Lynn Garrison of Omaha, Nebraska; brother, Robert (Vada) Garrett of Stewart, Iowa; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and three brothers, John, William and Donald.
