Marion Klaver, 74, died Sunday, August 14, 2011, at Iowa Health Hospice Taylor House from long term heart problems. He was born March 15, 1937, to Adolph and Ollie Klaver in Kamrar, Iowa.

Marion graduated from Kamrar High School in 1954, and attended junior college in Webster City. After moving to Altoona in 1959, he began his long career as a driver for various companies including Colonial Bread, Brady Motor Freight, Thorne Trucking, Contract Transport Trucking, and Titan Tire. Marion was also an avid aviation pilot working for Elliott Flying Service for many years.

Marion was a Worshipful Master of the King David Masonic Lodge #407 in Altoona and a member of the Za Ga Zig Shrine and the Scottish Rite. He also was a member of the Antique Tractor Club and the Road Runners.

Marion is survived by his wife, Kathy; children, Kreg (Sylvia) Klaver Sr. and Cheri (Ivan Archer) Solinger; step-children, Chantilly Barr and Brandon (Kari Conway) Juhl; grandchildren, Alison Klaver, Kreg Klaver Jr., Jess (Holly) Solinger, Christine (Matt) Dooley, Catherine (Mitch) Bockenstedt, Zachary and Zoey Barr, and Kiersten and Keegan Conway; great-grandchildren, Victoria Bella Klaver, Paige Solinger (almost here), Grace and Samantha Dooley, and Hayden and Tristan Bockenstedt; former spouse and mother of his children, Carole Klaver; and a host of other family and beloved friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Ken Klaver.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, August 18, 2011, at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th Street SW, with burial to follow at Altoona Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home.
