Altra Bagby

Altra Bagby, 73, went to meet the Lord on November 5, 2006 at Mercy Hospital Medical Center. Private graveside services will be held at Glendale Cemetery.
Altra was born November 15, 1932 in Birmingham, Alabama to Ada and Thomas Keyes. She graduated from Drake University. She worked as a teacher in the Des Moines Public Schools for 20 + years. She was a member of NEA and ISEA both educational clubs. Altra enjoyed cooking, reading, working on word find and listening to music. She loved spending time with her family. She will be missed by all of those who loved her.
Left to mourn her are her children, Carleton Bagby (Clara), Melanie Bagby-Helton (David) and Aleta Bagby all of Des Moines,; her brothers, Thomas Keyes (Lorrie) of California, and Milton Keyes of Des Moines; her sisters, Marva Harris and Jeanette Harold both of Des Moines; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson.
