Mildred Walters, 81, passed away August 1, 2011, at Wesley Acres from complications of Parkinson’s disease.
Mildred was born December 30, 1929, in Leon, Iowa, to Charles and Ruth Christensen. She was devoted to her family, loved gardening, quilting, sewing, with her specialty being chocolate chip cookies. Mildred wanted nothing more than to be surrounded by her family. She was a member of St. Ambrose Cathedral.
Mildred is survived by her husband of 63 years, Wayne; children, Steve (Jan) Walters, Linda (Joe) Phillips, Brenda Lowe, Renée Walters and Michael (Kelly) Walters; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
The family will greet friends at 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 3, 2011, followed by a Celebration of Mildred’s Life at 2:30 p.m., at Wesley Acres, 3520 Grand Avenue in Des Moines. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to Wesley Acres Austin Center.

Mike and the whole Walter's family,
So sorry to hear about the loss of your Mom. I could tell through the stories I heard that she was an awesome Mom and Grandma who truly enjoyed her family. We will be thinking of you during these upcoming difficult days.
