Gloria J. Clater, 60, passed away Sunday, July 31, 2011 at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. on Thursday, August 4, 2011 at the Altoona Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Pella, Iowa. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service.
Born October 30, 1950, Gloria Jean Clater was the daughter of William and Gertrude (Braafhart) Kelderman. She grew up in Des Moines and graduated from North High School in 1968. Gloria attended cosmetology school and worked as a hair dresser for over 30 years. On December 9, 1977 she was united in marriage to James Clater, to this union one daughter was born, Echo. Gloria enjoyed camping and watching sports, but most of all loved spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband, Jim; daughter, Echo; grandchildren, Elijah, Elivia, and Ethan; brothers, Ronald and Dennis Kelderman; sisters, Vicky Roby and Linda Aguiniga; and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Jack Kelderman.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the family.

I am saddened to learn of Gloria's death, and extend my sympathy to all of you. The Kelderman and Frew families go back many years; though we haven't kept in touch, we have fond memories of Gloria and the entire Kelderman family. May God bless you.

My condolences go out to the Clater family. I have known Glo my whole life and I will never forget her ability to make me laugh. She gave me my first perm when I was a child and I will never forget that perm!

My heart goes out to the entire Clater Family. I have such fond memories of being a little girl and Gloria cutting my hair, making Pork Chops and Chili and being an overall great woman whose snorts of laughter will never be forgotten.
My prayers to all of you during this difficult time. You will be close in my thoughts and heart.
