Raymond Jaeger

Raymond “Ray” Frederick Jaeger, Jr., 72, of Des Moines died of cancer on July 26, 2011, at his home. He was born on January 5, 1939, in Chicago, Illinois, to Raymond and Ethel Jaeger.

Ray was an asphalt worker until his retirement last year. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, watching old-time TV shows, and going to Prairie Meadows in his fancy new Cadillac.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon; son, Ray (Cindy); five daughters, Shirley Ann (Richard), Peggy (Robin), Jeanny (Dean), Melissa (Bill), and Michelle; 20 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and four on the way; brother, Robert; and many nieces, nephews, other extended family members and friends, and his dogs, “Freckles” and “Karissa.” He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and a brother.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 30, 2011, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home.
