Service Details
Paul Eugene Grother, 65, passed away at home on July 20, 2011. Services will be held at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, Des Moines, IA. Visitation will be Monday, July 25, 2011 from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will follow on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with burial at Jordan Cemetery.
Paul is survived by his children, Bobbie (Luke) Nelson of Boone, Sherry (Troy) Urich of Des Moines, Connie (Thad) Caylor of Urbandale, Paul Patrick Grother of Des Moines, and Jon-Paul Grother of Cedar Rapids; three grandchildren, Carson, Riley, and Nicholas; brother, Danny (Glenna) Grother of Altoona; and sister, Janice Youngs of Altoona. He was preceded in death by his ex-wife and companion, Barbara Grother; parents, John and Evelyn Grother.
Paul was a proud and private man who taught his children the value of hard work. He loved his grandchildren, and enjoyed providing them with sugary treats. He had a passion for Lionel Trains, music from the 50s and 60s, and old coins. He also enjoyed spending time at the SE Senior Center in his later years.

Jan I am so sorry to hear about the death of your brother. I lost mine 15 years ago and it is always a shock. If I can do anything for you or your family, please let me know.

Wish we could be there but with the cost of gas and travel, there's no way right now that we can. My prayers are with you guys. I love each and every one of you. Your dad was a good guy, stubborn, but good. He used to tease all my kids and they loved it, even though at the time they would complain but you could tell that they did. I loved him and so did the kids, he will be deeply missed.
