Lyle B. Holtman

Lyle B. Holtman, 85, passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2011.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Monday, July 25, 2011, at Capitol Hill Christian Church, 3322 E. 25th Street, with burial to follow at the Masonic Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, July 24, 2011, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street.
Lyle was born October 10, 1925, to Henry and Gertrude (Creek) Holtman. He graduated from East High School in 1943 where he was a cheerleader and later an active member of the Alumni Association. Lyle then proudly served his country in the Coast Guard during WWII and went on to earn a business degree from AIB. He worked as a top salesman for Iowa Veterinary Supply Company for over 25 years before retiring in 1987. Lyle loved golf, bowling, and fishing trips throughout the Midwest and Canada. He and his wife of nearly 60 years, Erma also traveled extensively in the U.S. and abroad. Lyle attended Capitol Hill Christian Church and was a member of the Za-Ga-Zig Shrine and the Eastgate Masonic Lodge.
Lyle is survived by his sons, Steve (Shelley) Holtman of Nevada, Iowa, and Jon (Shaela) Holtman of Ames, Iowa; grandchildren, Erin (Derek) Miller, Kyle (Laura) Holtman, Stephanie, Andrea and Ethan Holtman; and great-granddaughter, Natalie Miller. He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, Erma, and siblings, Margaret, James, Elizabeth and Willard.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association, 1730 28th Street, West Des Moines, IA 50266.

I'm sorry to see of Lyle's passing. I knew Lyle beginning in 1970 when I went into the farm store business and we did business with IVS. I always enjoyed his visits. Peace be with family and friends.
