Joy Devitt

Joy L. Devitt, 56, died peacefully Saturday, April 14, 2007, following a long struggle with lung cancer. The memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 23, 2007 at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway in West Des Moines.
Joy was born October 17, 1950 to Geneva & Howard Markley in Aberdeen, South Dakota. She lived part of her life in Omaha, Nebraska before moving to the Des Moines area. She was one of the first women air traffic controllers in the central region. After leaving government service, she worked as an insurance agent for Brooks - Lussem Insurance agency before retiring.
Joy is survived by her loving husband, Allen of West Des Moines; her daughter, Macaela (Nathan) Reeves of West Des Moines; her grandchildren, Sterling, Keagen, Ronan and Mason Reeves of West Des Moines; and her sisters, Carol (Mark) Darling of Aberdeen, SD, Peggy (Gus) Mohr of Spanish Fork, UT, and Barbara (John) Broughton of Orlando, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents.
