Kim Allan Tarbell was born February 1, 1956 in Centerville, Iowa to Ivyl and Olive Jean Tarbell. He was saved as a young child at First Baptist Church in Centerville. He was a proud graduate of Moravia High School, Class of ’74, and enjoyed attending their reunions. He graduated from Indian Hills Community College with a degree in computer programming. Kim worked as a computer programmer for the majority of his life. He worked for J C Penney’s distribution center for 17 years before his illness forced him to stop working. He married Shari Lynn Hyler on February 14, 1981. He was a music lover and liked visiting Branson, MO. He was an avid hockey fan, his favorite team being the St. Louis Blues. Kim also liked cheering on the Royals and the Chiefs. He loved attending the Iowa State Fair and watching fireworks on the 4th of July.

Kim passed away peacefully under hospice care on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at the age of 63.

He is survived by his sons Nathaniel, Joshua, and Samuel Tarbell, mother Olive Jean Tarbell, brother Darl (Greta) Tarbell, sister Robin (Jim) Thomas, brother in law Jim Hyler, Jr., sister in law Debbie (Ed) Chandler, and nieces and nephews.

Kim was preceded in death by his wife Shari Lynn Tarbell and his father Ivyl Tarbell.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines, with burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery. A reception will follow at the funeral home.
