Richard "Pat" McGoldrick
November 27, 1941 — November 27, 2024
Richard P. McGoldrick, 83, passed away November 27, 2024 at Wesley on Grand in Des Moines, Iowa.
Pat was born November 27, 1941 in Des Moines, Iowa to Richard and Doris (Eshelman) McGoldrick. He graduated from Tech High School and Drake University. Pat married Connie Wilson in 1995 and they spent many happy years together. They enjoyed their vacation home in the Lake of the Ozarks. They loved to cook, golf, and sharing a good bottle of wine. He looked forward to his annual fishing trip to Canada with his friends. He also was a huge animal lover!
As an Investment Advisor for MGC Financial, Inc., Pat showed his business excellence by being a founding member of the Iowa Chapter of Financial Planning Association and a member of the local and national Estate Planning Council.
During his lifetime he served many organizations in the community. He was National Chairman of the Board of the American Heart Association, Chairman of the UnityPoint Health Foundation, member of the Board of Directors of UnityPoint, Chairman of the Board at Childserve, and President of Hyperion Country Club. He was also instrumental in developing a Youth Soccer Park in Des Moines which bears his name. In the 1970’s, concerned that the soap box derby racers did not have a safe place to practice, Pat organized others and together they raised funds and built a practice track for the children in Ewing Park, where it still stands today. Finally, Pat took great pride in being a part of The Morning Club for so many years.
Left to mourn his loss are his wife, Connie McGoldrick; daughter, Christy (David) Bierma; son, Stephen (Sheila) McGoldrick; grandchildren, Rebecca (Aaron) Hughes, Alec (Simone) Bierma, Taylor (Cody) Stegall and Abbey (Zach) Woodbeck; four great-grandchildren, Emma, Henry, Maverick and Sophie; and his faithful canine companion, Cooper.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandmother.
Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. Thursday, December 5, 2024 at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines. Mass of Christian Burial will follow the next day, Friday, December 6 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 2926 Beaver Avenue in Des Moines, Iowa.

Connie,
Pat's passing deeply saddens us. Both of you have been so kind to us, warmly welcoming us to the neighborhood many years ago. God bless you both. We are blessed to count you as friends and neighbors. Heartfelt sympathies to you and your family—and Cooper.
