Renate Rowell

Renate Rowell, 49, passed away April 10, 2021 at her home.

Renate was born April 18, 1971 in Moline, Illinois to Larry and Natalie Lassuy. She attended Geneseo High School, Class of 1989. Renate received her AA from Kaplan College in Davenport, Iowa. On July 23, 2002, she was married by the Justice of the Peace in Davenport, Iowa to Daniel Rowell. Together they had five sons. Renate enjoyed woodworking, shopping and traveling. She loved hanging out with her family and friends, and spending holidays with them, especially Thanksgiving and Easter. Renate enjoyed family trips to Adventureland. She adored her grandchildren and loved her boxer dogs. She was the manager at the Post Exchange on the Des Moines Air Base.

Renate is survived by her husband, Daniel; sons, Anthony (Amanda) Morris, Devin (Abby) Meeks, Matthew Meeks, Nekoda Rowell and Jesse Meeks; nine grandchildren; mother, Natalie Lassuy; brothers, Loran Lassuy and Jason Lassuy; and a host of extended family and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Larry Lassuy; aunt, Rose Schmidt and her uncle, Thomas (Mick) Herbert.

The family will greet friends Sunday, April 18, 2021 from 11 am to 12 pm with the funeral service to follow at 12 pm at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Renate will be laid to rest at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery on Monday, April 19, 2021 at 12:30 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to any University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital or Unity Point Hospice.
