Today we celebrate the life of Deaconess Mary Jane (Bruce) Jones. Mary Jane was born on February 27, 1927 in Des Moines, IA to Robert and Addie Bruce. She departed this life on Monday January 18th 2021.
Mary was a born again Christian and served as a Deaconess at Philadelphia Seven Day Adventist Church. Mary retired from Blue Cross and Blue Shield after 15 years. She relocated to Coatesville, Pennsylvania to be with her daughter and returned back to Des Moines in 2014. She loved watching The Waltons and Little House on the Prairie because they reminded her of her childhood. Some of her hobbies and interests included, studying the Bible, cooking, and doing crossword puzzles. She will be remembered most as a loving mother, grandmother who always supported her children. Mary was happiest when she was surrounded by family and friends.
She is survived by her brothers, William Bruce of Des Moines, IA and Richard Bruce of Las Vegas, NV; sister, Beverly Jackson of Minneapolis, MN; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; and all her children, Jeffery Jones, Ralph Jones, Pamela Richardson, David Jones, Jeannine Brown, Voncille Hannah, and Larry Jones.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., with funeral service to begin at 11:00 a.m., on January 30, 2021 at True Bible Baptist Church, 4101 Amherst Street, Des Moines, IA 50313. Interment will follow at Glendale Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in memory of Mary.
