I knew Dale Brunette to be a most outstanding person, of unswerving honesty and calm temperament, generous, hard working, and highly intelligent.
We exchanged a few visits over the years, and spoke many times by phone, including a few times in the last month. In my garden here in Michigan I am growing some plants given me by Dale and his late mother Esther.
He was a tremendous expert about Sabah, previously North Borneo, and subscribed to all the newspapers there, continuing to read them on-line after that became available, and was perfectly fluent in the Malay language, plus the local language Kadazan.
His premature death is a great tragedy, and I send heartfelt condolences to his beloved wife Mary and the entire extended family.

- Kota Kinabalu.

I've known Dale since he began working with me 18 years ago. We were both Geologists from Iowa State, gone through Field Camp, and had so much in common. He became one of my best friends. My wife and I saw Dale in the hospital the day after his surgery. He was in good spirits. He maintained that feeling at work until he retired. I missed him when he retired, and even more now.
I hope that your family may find comfort in the knowledge that Dale was such a good person, and a good friend. You have our prayers and hopes of peace for your family. He is missed.
