Sharon Lee Stout
July 20, 1938 — July 13, 2024
Sharon Lee Stout, 85, passed away on July 13, 2024, at Unity Point Hospice Taylor House.
Sharon was born on July 20, 1938, to Albert and Gertrude Friend in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. As a young girl, she moved to Des Moines and was raised by her grandmother, Sedella (Stella) and grandfather Victor. Sharon and Richard “Dick” Stout married and stayed in Des Moines to raise their family. Their home on the southside became everyone’s home away from home. The bonus children through the years were welcomed as there was plenty of love to go around.
Sharon was very involved in her children’s activities spending many hours in a hockey rink and dance studio. This carried onto her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. This year she watched her 39th dance recital. She enjoyed sewing, making dance costumes and crafting. Sharon worked at the Des Moines Airport security for 24 years and after her retirement she purchased a bar, Someplace Else. It was there that she added darts to her many talents. She also had a love for reading. Sharon’s greatest love was for her family, it was unconditional and without limits.
Sharon is survived by her daughter, Rhonda (Garrett); her sons, Darren (Shelly) and Ryan (Rochelle); her grandchildren, Taylor (Brandon), Ayla (Tyler), Kalen, Lynsi (Ryan), and Davis; her great-grandchildren, Sedella, Alayla, Wyatt, and Archie; as well as her honorary daughter, Roberta and granddaughter, Skyler.
Sharon is preceded in death by her daughter, Karla; her husband, Richard; her brother, Albert, Jr.; and her sister, Shirley.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, July 26, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Royal Order of Eagles; 6567 Bloomfield Road, Des Moines, Iowa.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Sharon.

We have had the privilege of meeting Sharon a handful of times and she was always so fun to be around. All the stories we have heard over the years have been a reflection of how she was always there for others and she was always a blast to be around. She will be truly missed. We want to express our deepest condolences to Rhonda, Darren, and Ryan during this difficult time.
