On Saturday, May 23, 2026 Richard Lee Wiseman of Polk City, Iowa passed away peacefully at home at the age of 66.

He graduated from North Polk High School in Alleman, Iowa in 1977. In school he enjoyed playing football and also played the saxophone. After high school Rick started a job with the Core of Engineers which turned into a career of moving Earth as a heavy equipment operator. During his career he worked over 28 years with M.C. Lint and ended his career with Elder Corporation. He referenced his skill as an operator as being able to scrape dirt off a dime.

Rick’s family was the center of his world. He is survived by his parents Phyllis and Robert Wiseman who cherished him deeply. His children, Shannon Clark (Adam), Charles Erickson (Rachel), Mike Shores (Millette), Michelle Phippen (Tony). His three brothers, Randy (Amy) Ron (Kristen) and Russ (Krista). He was a proud grandpa to his 10 grandkids and 4 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Don and Lillian Griffiths, and Oscar and Helen Wiseman, his nephew, Brendon and his grandson Damian.

He lived his life with a mix of quiet patience and high- octane excitement. He found great peace in the quiet moments while hunting and fishing, tracking game and waiting for the next great catch. He also loved racing, he proudly drove in demolition derbies and enjoyed watching stock car racing. He also had an appreciation for music and enjoyed following his favorite bands.

To know him was to be his friend, as he had a rare gift for making everyone feel welcome. He leaves behind an absolute wealth of friends who meant the world to him.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2026, 10:00 a.m. at White Oak Church 14747 NE White Oak Dr. Elkhart, Iowa 50073. A luncheon will follow at the church.
