Norman Mc Kee
April 27, 1961 — March 17, 2024
Norman Mc Kee, 62, passed away on March 17, 2024. He was born on April 27, 1961 to Wayne and Marilyn (Hedgecock) Mc Kee.
Norm grew up in Des Moines, he attended Tech High School where he studied electronics, and also went to East High School for his other classes and graduated from East High in 1980. He worked many different odd jobs such as La Pizza House, Gordon’s Wholesale and then worked for the United States Postal Office for over 30 years. He was currently a Supervisor of Maintenance. He loved all things that had to do with “going to the left” especially NASCAR. Some of their favorite memories are from racing go-karts. He loved going to the Good Guys, car shows in Iowa and also out of state car shows. Among the many cars he owned his favorites were his 1972 LT1 Stingray, Corvette and his 70 Camaro. Norm was a jack of all trades – he could do all things from IT Computer issues to plumbing, electrician, to auto mechanics.
He would give his shirt off his back for anyone – he was always ready to help no matter who you were. He would never leave anyone hanging. Norm loved his community and would be the first to help if needed. One time on his mail route he saved a family as their house was burning. This goes hand in hand as even in his death he saved others as an Organ Donor.
Norm is survived by his wife of 35 years, Cindy; children, Ryan Mc Kee, Justin Lee Mc Kee, Melissa “Missy” (Jeremy) Stonehocker and Jacob Mc Kee; granddaughter, Aria Stonehocker; siblings, Evelyn (Jim) Tappan, Tom (Kelly) Mc Kee and Brenda (Ron) Smith; nieces and nephews, Eric, Ashley, Katelynn, Amanda, Michelle, Thomas II, Benjamin, Amber, Megan, Zoey, Cody, Morgan, Adam, Kyle, Tierney, Zachariah, Jayden, Emily and Ethan. Many other great nieces and nephews and loving family members and friends, especially his closest friend, Rick Kimbley.
He is preceded in death by his parents

Cindy, Ryan, Justin, Melissa, Jacob, and Jeremy,
No words can express how much your husband, dad, father-in-law, loved you all. He was a gentleman. He worked hard and played hard. Taken way to soon. We are so sorry for your loss. If you need anything, please always remember Tom and I are here for you.
Norm, you were the best brother and brother-in-law anyone could every ask for. Your kindness will be something we will never forget. We will treasure the time we spent together. No one can ever replace you in our hearts. We will forever miss you! Love you always,
Tom & Kelly
