Kyle David Mengwasser
August 23, 1991 — February 20, 2024
Even though our hearts are breaking, we give back to God our oldest son, Kyle, who passed away from natural causes on February 20, 2024.
Kyle David Mengwasser was born August 23, 1991. The nurse saw right away his big dimple. Since August 23 was also his Grandma Noni's birthday and she and Grandpa Phil were at the fair that day, this began a tradition of taking all the grandchildren to the fair. We joked that we put Miracle Grow in Kyle's food. By age 9, he was taller than his Grandma Evelyn. When he gave you a hug, you experienced a gentle giant, and his heart was even bigger than he was.
He was 4 when he gave his heart to Jesus, and at 13 he and his brother were baptized together in the lake. In 2023 we watched every episode of "The Chosen," and we were excited for season four in early February. The Friday before he went home, we saw in the theater episodes 4 through 6. The series makes faith and the gospels come alive. That evening he ordered his favorite seafood enchiladas for dinner, and we had our bear hugs. Sunday he fell ill, and he passed away on Tuesday. He loved nature and adventure, and ketchup. The only two pictures in his wallet were the graduation pictures of his brothers.
He was truly loved by his parents Kevin and Robyn, his brothers Luke and Blake, his sister-in-law Ashely, nephew Matthew and niece Macie, his Grandma Noni and Phil, Aunt Dawn and Jamie, cousins Gunner and Jeremy, Grandma Evelyn and Bernie, Uncle David and Sue, cousin Marcy, Aunt Val and Jack, cousins Amber and Curtis, Aunt Gloria and Mike, cousins Ashley and Heather, Aunt Renee and Mike, cousins Tony, Andy, and Nicholas in heaven, and Uncle Mike and Heidi, cousins Donnie, Josh, and Lauren, and countless extended family and friends.
We have eternity!

Kyle was a king among men, a kind giant, and a dear friend. My parents, sisters, and I spent so many happy hours of my childhood playing and laughing with the Mengwassers. Kyle and I were pretty close in age and therefore very close, but I feel like all three brothers were huge parts of my life. His kindness and love of fun as a child was memorable and all those memories are deeply cherished in the hearts of the Hart clan.
I know it's been a number of years since seeing him, but I know he is at peace with The Lord and will keep helping us all find balance between being serious and being ourselves.
He is in the autumn leaves, the crisp spring air, and the stars over the forests, following us and encouraging us to explore and imagine always. Be at peace knowing that he will never stop being a part of everyone's lives and that our hearts echo with his laughter.
I send you my love and condolences through this difficult time and hope like a geode, the harsh pain on the outside of this event in life breaks away to reveal a beautiful crystalline peace and memory.
Love always,
Emily Rachael-Hart Cleary and family
