Jon Harold Miklus, 81, passed away on June 23, 2024. He was born on March 21, 1943 to Michael and Ada (Goode) Miklus.

Jon started working with Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 33 at age 18, retiring and remained an active member for over 60 years. He graduated from Saydel High School. Jon was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan, he also loved to garden. For a number of years Jon & Vickie sold creeping phlox's when they took over the business from Jon's parents. His favorite vacation spots were Clear Lake in the summer and Texas in the winter.

Jon is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Vickie; children, Scott (Melanie) Zyzanski, Lisa (Travis) Block and Chrissy Greim; grandchildren, Zac Zyzanski, Dani Zyzanski, Craig (Kelly) Block, Benjamin (Abbi) Block, Kassidy Block and Tommy Greim; great grandchildren, Gabe, Gavin, Eloise, Edward Block and Lainey and Lydia Block; siblings; Bill Miklus and Daisy Marcketti. Along with a host of extended family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; twin brother, Joe Miklus; brother, Jack Miklus; sisters, Bettie Purdy and Amelia “Mickey” Miklus.

Family will greet guests on Thursday, June 27, 2024 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 28, 2024 at 11:00 a.m., at the funeral home. Burial will be at Pine Hill Cemetery in Des Moines.
