Flora “Flo” Monahan, 98, passed away on April 19, 2025 in Altoona, Iowa. She was born on September 12, 1926 in London, Ohio to Hartzel and Dorothy (Stevens) Rickards.

Flo married James Monahan on May 5, 1951. In 1970 they moved to Marshalltown where they would make that their home until 2015 when they moved to Prairie Vista Village in Altoona, Iowa. Flo worked for a brief time as a bank teller. She was a stage 4 Breast Cancer survivor.

Flo is survived by her son, Doug Monahan; grandchildren, Sydney (Erin) Dunn, Samantha (Riley) Sharpe, Skylar (Andrew) Reaman and Saydie Monahan; great grandchildren, Talon Dunn and Isabelle Dunn sister-in-law, Brigitte Alsdorf Rickards and nephews, Andy Rickards and Patrick Monahan.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James “Jimmy” Monahan and her parents.

There are no services planned at this time. Burial will take place at a later date this summer at Riverside Cemetery in Marshalltown, Iowa.
