David Lockey

David Lockey, age 56, passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at Mercy Hospital, Des Moines. He was born the son of Larry and Virginia Lockey on June 12, 1968, in Des Moines, Iowa.

David was a very involved member of the Painters and Allied Trades Union. He was a true outdoorsman and had a passion for hunting and fishing. David enjoyed having family and friends over for cookouts and was famous for his boiled then grilled chicken. Above all else, he treasured time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. He would often remind his children that he liked being a grandpa more than a dad. David always cared for others – from his family, friends, to strangers. He would help anyone in need. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is lovingly survived by his children Kasi Reed, Andrew (Ashley) Lockey, and Jacob (Miranda) Lockey, grandchildren Anabelle Turpen, Rosalei Reed, Holly Reed, Morgan Lockey, Brooklyn Lockey, Olivia Lockey, Bodhi Lockey, Nolan Lockey, Aiden Lockey, and one on the way. He is also survived by his father Larry (Janette) Lockey, siblings John Lockey and Leanna Battreall, aunt Marlene, his significant other Mendy Corwin, and a host of extended family members and friends.

David was preceded in death by his mother Virginia Lockey.

Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., with funeral service to begin at 11 a.m., Friday, June 21, 2024, at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street, Des Moines.
