Dale Allen Carter

Dale Allen Carter, 70, went home to Jesus on June 3, 2026, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City from complications of heart failure.  He was born on May 4, 1956 to Carol and Dorothy (Fetters) Carter in Des Moines, Iowa.

Dale began his career at the Des Moines Water Works when he was 19 years old and dedicated 35 years of service before retiring in 2012. 

After retirement he enjoyed spending time with his family, helping start and run businesses, taking vacations and spending winters in warm, sunny Florida.

Dale is survived by his wife of 50 years, Karen; daughters, Kristy (Chad) Briles and Kelly (Kelly) Millard; grandchildren, Cate and Cash Allen Briles and Max, Cora and Louie Dale Millard; brother, Gary (Teresa) Carter, along with extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant sister, Phyllis Carter, and infant granddaughter, Charlotte Millard.

A Celebration of Life service is planned for Sunday, June 14, 2026, at 4:00 pm at Life Change Church 4530 NE 46th Street in Des Moines. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Dale Carter Hope Foundation of Kenya Memorial Fund through Life Change Church (lifechangedsm.com)  in loving memory of Dale.
