Charles William Shepard

Charles “Chuck” William Shepard, age 55, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at the Kavanagh Hospice House in Des Moines. He was born October 7, 1970, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Arthur Shepard and Marilyn (Roseberry) Shepard.

Charles “Chuck” grew up in Des Moines and was a lifelong resident of Des Moines.

Chuck was a colorful character, always trying to prank someone and always had a story to tell. Chuck loved his family and friends and loved being around them on holidays and family functions. He was always the biggest kid and life of the party.

Chuck is survived by girlfriend, Della Kalar; brother, Norman Backstrom (Sheila) of Kansas; brother, Todd Shepard (Crystal) of Arizona; and many nieces and nephews.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Wesley Backstrom and Jesse Shepard; sister, Joanne Epps; nieces, Rebecca (Backstrom) Nelson, and Crystal Barg; and great-nephew, Behlen Timothy Nelson.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 2, 2026 at Bondurant Cemetery in Bondurant, Iowa.
