Carl Arthur Burdock

Carl Arthur Burdock, age 90 passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at his home in Des Moines.

Carl was born March 13, 1933, in Hamilton, Iowa to Clarence Bain and Naomi (Sullivan) Burdock and raised by is stepfather LeRoy Burdock. He resided in Des Moines all of his life with the exception of his Army service. Following graduation from East High School, he proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was stationed in Alaska and played baseball and basketball while in the army. He was an entrepreneur, owning the Cabaret Lounge in West Des Moines which he sold when he retired. Following his retirement, he still liked to stop in and visit with his old customers at the Cabaret. He was very athletic and enjoyed all sports, especially golf which he played up until a few years ago.

He is survived by his daughter, Carla Burdock; son, Jeff Burdock; and brother, Richard Burdock; several Bain half-brothers and sisters; 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather; daughter, Robyn Burdock; sister, Billie Jean Gotta (Burdock); brother-in-law, Eugene Gotta; and sister-in-law, Shirley Burdock.

Carl will be laid to rest at Iowa Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
