Audrey Lucia (Stoneking) Lang, 88, passed away January 24, 2024, in Des Moines, IA. She was born in Chariton, IA, on May 29, 1935, to Lora Stoneking. For over 30 years since 1985, she lived in a house built by her husband Raymond “Jack” Lang and her on Lake Ponderosa near Montezuma, IA, until moving to Searsboro.

Audrey enjoyed traveling with her family, camping their way across the country. Her biggest travel dream was to go to Alaska to see the Inside Passage. Audrey was passionate about sewing, embroidery, crocheting, and other crafts. She enjoyed taking her work to Albuquerque, NM, to sell at Christmas craft shows. She developed a following of those who enjoyed her work, asking for special orders, and always looking forward to her return year after year. Audrey had a love for baking. Her chocolate chip cookies were a highly sought-after treat by her many grandchildren. She enjoyed teaching her children and grandchildren how to sew, embroider, bake, and craft.

Audrey loved to help people. She has worked for school cafeterias as a cook, as an aide in the nursing home Wesley Acres, and at the family’s Des Moines business, Lang Cleaners. She played an active role in the care of her many grandchildren, helping out when needed. She was always willing to open her home to others for a meal or a place to stay.

Audrey is survived by her brother Tom (Mary Anne) Gorham; children Gary (Cindy) Rogers, Jr., Sandra (Mark) Ekman, Scott Lang, Polly Snodgrass, and Todd (Anita) Lang; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her mother, her husband of 55 years, Jack, son Shawn Lang, and 2 brothers, Dennis and Ronald Gorham.

A grave-side service will be held at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery, 1 NE 60th Ave, Des Moines, IA on April 20, 2024 at 10:00 am.
