Alberta May Pittman
May 14, 1933 — January 18, 2024
Alberta May Pittman, 90 of Des Moines, passed away Thursday January 18 at her home. She married her late husband Harry James Pittman Jr. August 24, 1950. She raised 6 children Paula Nelson, Harriett Jane Enos, Christine (Mike) Wright, and David (Laura) Pittman. She was preceded in death by 2 of her children; Daniel James Pittman (Kim) and Mary Louise Moraine. 17 grandchildren, 1 grandchild, Jason W. Hicks also preceded her, and 26 great grandchildren. She raised her grandson, Adam Moraine, like a son as well as his daughter Abby.
Mom was an old-fashioned housewife taking great care of dad and family, very strong and hardworking, trained to be a nurse, restaurant worker, factory worker, and a CMO at Valborg Lutheran Home before retiring in 1992 due to her health. She bravely fought COPD, dementia, cancer, and we were very lucky to have her for so many years.
Visitation at noon on Thursday January 25 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. Funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. with burial at Laurel Hill.

My condolences to the entire family, she talked about all of her children, but I only had the pleasure of meeting her grandson Adam in person. I worked many many years with Alberta at Valborg. She was an absolute joy to work with and there was never a dull moment, I missed her dearly when she retired. Heaven certainly gained a very spirited angel..

My Sweet Grandma.I and anyone who knew my grandma will miss her dearly.It's gonna be a struggle to deal with not having grandma to be there every time i needed to hear her sweet voice anytime i struggled through anything grandma would always be ready to pick me up and make me feel like i was special.couldn't do no wrong in grandmas eyes .i love you grandma,Darrin
