Albert Joseph Scigliano
June 08, 1965 — September 14, 2024
Albert Joseph Sciagliano 59, passed away on
September 14, 2024. He was born on June 8, 1965 and lived his entire life in the Des Moines Metro area.
Albert was raised in the Des Moines metro area where he lived with his mother, Patty; step-father, Darrell; and his sister,
Margaret Anderson. Albert lived with his family until his
transition to community housing in 1988, where he remained with his second family at Mainstream Living.
Albert will be remembered for his welcoming and kind demeanor. There was never any hesitation for Albert when a visitor walked into Mainstream Living on Freemont: he would introduce himself, ask a question, and give a smile. This earned Albert the title of “Visitor Greeter”. Albert was remarkable with remembering dates and places, often starting his conversations with
“Do you remember back when?”
Albert graduated high school at Tech High, in DSM ,in1984, he also worked part-time jobs at Easter Seals, Goodwill, and fast food restaurants, getting Recognition certificates for jobs well done.
Albert’s favorite snacks were, caffeine-free Coke, taffy, and Tootsie-Roll suckers. Albert was fond of his outings with his Mainstream
Living family, going bowling, and seeing movies. (Godzilla was his favorite). Albert took great pride in his wristwatch collection that he was always thrilled to add to and kept well maintained with help from Robbie.
Albert is survived by his step-father, Darrell Anderson; his sister, Margaret Anderson; brothers, Mark Scigliano and Joseph Scigliano Jr.; step-brother, Chris Mann; niece, Ellen; aunt, Billy Sue Duff; and other family to carry Albert’s legacy forward.
Albert was proceeded in death by his mother, Patricia Anderson, earlier this year; his father, Joseph Scigliano Sr. His grandparents also proceeded his passing.
