Violate Marie Poindexter

Violate Marie Poindexter, 100 years young, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2026. She was born on December 2, 1925, in Madrid, Iowa, to Irvin and Pansy Welder.

Violate was united in marriage to Dean Poindexter on November 29, 1948. From their union, they had two children, Dean Jr. and Pam McLey, who later blessed them with five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Violate graduated from Madrid High School. She worked as a secretary for various companies and eventually retired from the city of Des Moines.
Violate cherished winter days in Florida with her two sisters and brother. She enjoyed cooking and making meals for her family.

Violate is survived by her daughter, Pam (Jeff) McLey; grandchildren, Chris (Christina) McLey, Jay McLey, Scott (Christy) Poindexter, and Sheila Poindexter; great-grandchildren, Joey and Lacey Poindexter; sister, Lois Peterson; brothers, Robert, Garry, and Larry Welder; and many nephews, nieces, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dean Sr.; her son, Dean Jr.; grandson, Steve Poindexter; parents, Irwin and Pansy Welder; brothers, Lloyd and Clifford Welder; and sister, Helen Lee.
