Sherry Schroeder, 75, passed away peacefully at her home on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2025, surrounded by the her loved ones.

Born on November 22, 1949, in Des Moines, Iowa, Sherry was the cherished daughter of Leroy and Josephine Blackford. She was a proud graduate of Tech High School in the class of 1967. Sherry then moved on and built her career as a dedicated buyer at Ardans. In June 1987, Sherry married her soulmate, Dale Schroeder, embarking on a beautiful journey of love that would have marked 38 years of marriage this year. She held a variety of roles throughout her life, showcasing her versatility and dedication in every role she had. After years of hard work and commitment, she retired from UnityPoint in 2017.

Sherry enjoyed dancing, fishing, shopping and had a deep affection for flowers, which brought beauty and tranquility to her life. Her passion for home décor and fashion jewelry reflected her creative flair that will never be forgotten. Her devotion to attending church spoke to her enduring faith. She also treasured many moments spent with her dachshund, Coco. Rarely seen without a cup of coffee in hand, Sherry occasionally indulged in a glass of wine or a margarita, embracing life's simple pleasures. Autumn weekends were full of excitement, as she cheered for the Iowa Hawkeyes on Saturdays and the Kansas City Chiefs on Sundays.

The Schroeder residence was a cherished gathering place, where family cookouts became unforgettable celebrations filled with laughter, love, and lasting memories. Sherry was the life of the party and knew how to energize the room with her humor and charm. Sherry’s warmth and love touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. To say she will be deeply missed by those who loved her would be an understatement.

Sherry is survived by her husband, Dale Schroeder; sisters, Peggy (Dan) Jelinek and Nancy (Mani) Iyer; daughters, Shawna (James) Krivolavy and Amy (David) Bertoncinni; sons, Richard Jr. (Annette) Remus and Brandon (Jamie) Schroeder; ten grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and their wire-haired dachshund, Coco.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leroy and Josephine Blackford, and brother Dave Butler.

Family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 1, 2025 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines with Mass of Christian burial to follow at 12:00 p.m. Inurnment to take place at 2:00 p.m. at Iowa Veteran Cemetery, 34024 Veterans Memorial Drive in Adel.
