Never met Sherry in person because we live so far away. But our little talks on facebook where kind and sharing. It was nice to know you. Even when you where in germany the last time, we talked about meeting each other. Sadlly this never happened. May you rest in peace. I hope you are dancing with Ron and Ian and hear the angel choirs.

I am so sorry to learn of Sherry’s passing. I worked with Sherry when she was a Sergeant in the G1 (Personnel) Department. She was a friend and supporter to all. She was a heavy lifter during the 2000s when the Iowa Army National Guard was deploying thousands of Soldiers in support of the Global War on Terror - working 18 hour days, never complaining, always professional, helping others, and getting things done. It was great to see so many people ecstatic to see Sherry promoted to Master Sergeant - she was a cheerleader for so many and others were happy for her. I was not aware that Sherry was ill. She was a blessing to many. My condolences to her Mom and loved ones.

We are just too far away to come home for the service, but I truly wish I could thank Sherry one more time for everything she did to help my soldiers deal with the pains of deployments. One of my other comrades described her as a shining star in our organization. Godspeed, Sweetheart. She brightened my day every time I saw her, and I know I'm not alone.

I will be on a flight to DC on Monday, so I will not be able to be at Sherry's funeral. She was the sweetest, kindest soul I have ever served with, and she will truly be missed. Her family is in my prayers as they walk through this time of grief. God bless.
