Service Details

The greatest man we ever knew, our father Ralph Page, 92, passed away in the early morning hours of Saturday, April 18, 2026, at the VA Hospice in Des Moines.

He was born August 21, 1933, in Tallassee, Alabama to parents, John Paige and Bessie (Keahey) Paige. Ralph met the love of his life, Carline Austin in Clarksville, Tennessee November 1952 while serving in the US Marine Corp and stationed in Fort Campbell, Kentucky. They married January 30, 1953. Ralph and Carline were happily married until her death March 2, 2010. Ralph and Carline had four daughters.

Ralph was a brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend. He was loved by everyone who knew him. Ralph enjoyed watching football (especially the Hawkeyes), baseball which he played in his younger years, and basketball. Ralph loved watching The Waltons, MASH, any western, and he loved playing Bingo.

Ralph retired from Massey Ferguson in 1982 then worked for Polk County and retired a second time in 2011.

Ralph is survived by his daughter Linda (Danny) Steele, daughter Bessie Page, grandchildren Jason (Lacey) Steele, Drew Medhaug, and Dillon Page, great-grandchildren Jaiden Steele and Tinley Steele, nieces and nephews, to name a few – Suzanne Bice and Keith Page of Alabama, Sue Anthony, Sheila St John, and Wayne Lehman, and many more that were all very dear to him.

Ralph was preceded in death by his wife Carline, daughters Carol and Barbara, parents John and Bessie Paige, brothers Porter Paige and James Ray Paige, sisters Betty Jo Hales and Frances LuNeal Tamez, and several nieces and nephews that held a special place in his big heart.
